Hitchens bitch-slap Chomsky

I posted this on Facebook, but it deserves its own blog post.

Christopher Hitchens gives it to Noam Chompsky in spades over bin Laden.

Full story here.

As much as I disagree with Hitchens much of the time, I wholeheartedly endorse every idea he brings out in this article. Chomsky is such a dolt - an America Hater of epic magnitude, he buys into all the Kook-Left fringes' apoplexies on 9/11, the CIA, and GW Bush.

Read the whole thing. Awesomeness.

There is nothing remotely controversial about Chomsky's comments regarding OBL and they have been remarkably consistent from the start. It's not even in dispute that the Taliban offered to extradite Osama to the US provided the Bush administration presented proof of his involvement in the 9/11 attacks. By "proof" of course I mean more than mere assertions by the Bush administration of his guilt. This may come as a startling revelation to you Rue but a sovereign nation has no legal or moral obligation to hand over one of its citizens or resident aliens to anther nation on demand. Then-FBI director Robert Mueller frankly admitted at the time that there was no evidence against OBL that could remotely withstand court scrutiny--the only standard that should animate any state having a credible claim to respect the rule of law.

Your comment regarding Chomsky's alleged "anti-Americanism" is factually incoherent and anyone who accepts the very concept has a fundamentally flawed understanding of a free citizen's proper relationship to his or her nation.

Chomsky is no more ignorant than Hitchens whose comments on religion, and those who believe in God, truly smack of ignorancy.

Perhaps Chomsky (and others) could have better written was U.S. policy on the Mideast which led to these anti-American feelings. And yes, Rue-y, this policy included Democratic administrations.

Also let's not forget it was the Bush administration who flew out the family of bin Laden the day after the attacks.

Since 9/11 the American government has turned a blind eye to Pakistan who has allowed terrorists to operate freely. Why? I do not know. We will not even get into the Saudi government allowing terrorists to operate before 9/11.

The word "ignorancy" must, to you, sound dapper, but it is not a word.

In a debate, using words that have no meaning in an attempt to sound smart only make you look...well...ignorant. It also, by the way, completely invalidates your successive argument.

And the proof that convinced them to hand him over would be....what? They never gave specific details, perhaps you, as an apologist for the Taliban, can provide some inside information. Better yet, how does one prove absolutely that the sky is blue?

Credible evidence of his involvement in the crime. Was that seriously a question?

I repeat, no sovereign nation is legally or morally obligated to hand over a citizen or resident alien to a foreign nation on demand. Why is this simple concept giving you such difficulty?

I'd like to also examine this little nugget as well:

"They never gave specific details, perhaps you, as an apologist for the Taliban, can provide some inside information."-T

At the risk of attributing meanings to your words that you don't intend I'm going to go out on a limb and take the above statement to mean that, in your estimation, the responsibility of disproving OBL's guilt fell to the Taliban. If in fact this is your position then you have the matter completely ass-backwards. Just from the standpoint of elementary logic it should be obvious that the responsibility of proof falls to the party making the claim of wrongdoing. Thus the US had an obligation to make its case. This the Bush administration pointedly chose not to do, opting instead to unilaterally launch a military attack against an entire NATION of which we were not at war for the actions of private actors [15 of whom (out of 19 total) were Saudi nationals].

In short the Bush administration committed the US to the ultimate war crime of aggressive war which Obama promptly advanced and expanded into Pakistan.

As far as the Hitchens-Chomsky “debate” goes I think Jews Sans Frontieres has more than adequately demonstrated just how far Hitch has fallen. It’s a little sad really.

Hitchens was spot on and Chomsky was a little left wing "progessive" dolt.

To 8:07 p.m.:

I stand corrected. I meant to call Hitchens an ignorant. I disagree with you I attempted to make myself sound smart. They would be akin to thinking Bush II was a good president. neither make any sense.

That being said...

Why is ColdType an "apologist for the Taliban," when all he does is question the U.S. reaction to the 9/11 tragedy?

I doubt the Taliban would have turned him over. It must be asked though, why did Pakistan allow him to hide there?

You can't blame that one entirely on Obama. YOUR guy Bush II is to blame for that goof-up.

P.S. Rue-y, put back up the link to ColdType. Justice demands it. If not justice how about I purchase you a six-pack (four-pack) of your favorite imported beer?
