Moseley-Braun robbed in Hyde Park

H/T: Six Meat buffet

Carol Moseley-Braun was beaten and robbed at knife point in front of her Hyde Park home.

So far no description of her assailant but the two medial students who came to her rescue are apparently caucasian.

Let's see...when a race-baiting sleezy Chicago politician gets mugged by a "person of color" and 2 European-Americans come to her aid, I guess that qualifies as irony.

Gun saves family, kills robber

Six Meat Buffet has a link to a story at the San Francisco Chronicle. The anti-gun spin in this story is as obvious as an MS-13 tattoo.

When Allen Joseph Hicks III, 22, an accused batterer on probation for a drug conviction and an aspiring rap artist whom everybody in his neighborhood knew as “Boonie”, entered a pizzeria at 9:45pm with 2 of his "homies", Hicks pulled out a handgun and said, "This is a robbery" - the store owner drew his 9mm and shot and killed Hicks.

In almost any other part of the country this event would have been hailed as a heroic act. But in California, the land of Moral Equivalency, this is slanted as a "tragedy." The story's writer hinted that the pizza owner may have "felt in fear for his life" when "Boonie" pulled out his pistol. Gee ya think?!?

The store owner, Piedra, had his wife and 3 children with him at the time. The youngest child was 19 months old.

From Six Meat Buffet:
Piedra said his 17-year-old son, 19-month-old son and 13-year-old daughter were inside the restaurant at the time. Piedra said he was afraid that the assailants would shoot him or hurt his family, a contention supported by Oakland police who nevertheless cautioned against citizens taking direct action against
criminals.

“There is definitely a balance,” said Officer Roland Holmgren, department spokesman. “This thing had potential — who knows where the suspects were going to take the situation? But by no stretch of the
imagination are we agreeing with or justifying what the owner did.”

Thanks, Officer. This is why we don’t call you when there’s a problem. Piedra should be hailed as a freaking role model, not second-guessed.
Just remember kids, don’t take the law into your own hands. Wait for the Police Clean-Up Crew™ to come and scrape up the remains of you and your family. Be a good witness, but don’t defend yourself.

Holmgren said, “We’re not saying that we want citizens to go out there and arm themselves and take the law into their own hands. We want citizens to be good witnesses, to be good report-takers and to identify suspects.”

The shooting has left two families traumatized, Holmgren said. “There are no winners in this whole case,” he said.

Well, that’s where you’re wrong again, Officer. Society wins when human debris like Boonie is shown the door. Oakland is a winner. The country is a winner. The planet is a winner. And most of all Piedra is a winner, because he didn’t allow himself and his family to become more statistics in the mile-long Oakland P.D. daily crime report.

The journalist who wrote the story, one Henry K. Lee, even took a knee and wept at the makeshift memorial that was erected for "Boonie."

This story encapsulates how far off course we've gone in this secularized, Politically Correct state. When an armed felon is killed while in the commission of a crime, some LibTard media-creature can't even find the wherewithal to condemn the offender for doing what he did. It's as if no person could do anything bad enough to earn "judgement" from the media. Even Cho, the VT shooter, is given somewhat of a pass by the MSM in that they claim he had a "mental illness". Well, in my opinion, one factor on why "Boonie" isn't condemned in the press for being the piece of shit that he really was is that he was black. If the robber had been white, no doubt there would have been a monsoon of negative press. Then I'm sure Henry K. Lee wouldn't have knelt down and made a big show about what a "tragedy" it was.

bih_boonie

The story claims that Piedra won't be charged with anything. I'm sincerely glad to see that this had a happy ending. The results speak for themselves: One dead piece of shit - one family safe and sound.

Guns save lives and all lawful citizens should be armed. What the hell, let's try making gun ownership MANDATORY for 5 years and see what happens to the crime rates.

Another heart-warming story surfaced here at Jawa Report. A concealed-carry permit holder shot a stick-up man in Cleveland. Aaawwwww .. .another "pillar of the community" wiped off the face of the planet.

Here come the White Flags

Hugh Hewitt has a link to a story on the Democratic capitulation to our enemies abroad.

Harry Reid's Telegram To The Taliban: "Hang In There. We're Quitters." seems to be one of the best and succinct titles I've ever seen.

...a copy of Kabul's leading English language newspaper, "The Daily Outlook."  It was from this week and had been slipped under the door of his hotel, and no doubt circulated widely among the English-speaking Afghans and was translated for the non-English speaking community.
Above the fold was a headline: "Iraq War Is 'Lost' Says US Democrat Leader."
Harry Reid's declaration of defeat had traveled across the globe to the Afghan capitol, and its message of encouragement to the barbarians there could not be easier to understand:  "Fight on.  The Americans are tired of the battle, and ready to take another holiday.  Kill a bunch more civilians and soldiers and they'll quit Afghanistan as well."

What else could the Democrats hope for? The image of them as turn-tail cowards will haunt them in 2008. Harry Reid is fooling himself if he thinks that his dog & pony show will be seen by the voters as anything but the blatant attempt to give aid and comfort to our enemy.

Osama bin-Laden said, right after the 9/11 bombings, that,"When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature they will like the strong horse." Reid has shown himself to be a weak leader, a defeat-O-crat of the highest order and the mouthpiece to triumphant terrorists everywhere.

If you'd like to send Senator Reid an email to voice your opinion on his current defeatest rhetoric, click here.

"Survey says? -- Good bye Western Civilization!"

An online sex survey of 26,000 respondents revealed some interesting statistics about what is going on in bedrooms around the world.

The survey measured frequency (number of times per year) and duration (time taken per sex session).

Greeks topped the list at 164. Brazilians followed with 145.

The most modest were the Japanese at only 48 times a year.

Switzerland's score of 123 meant it did better than neighbouring Latin lovers Italy 121, France 120. Germany scored 117, the United States a 85 and Britain 92.

The Swiss were also found to have good stamina. At 19 minutes, the Swiss made love one minute longer than the world average.

World champions in this respect were the Nigerians at 24 minutes, with the fun only lasting 13 minutes in India.

However, despite all this good news, the Swiss were still found to be unhappy with their love lives, with only 42 per cent saying they were totally satisfied.

The happiest were the Nigerians at 67 per cent and at the bottom of the league were, again, the poor old Japanese at 15 per cent.

Around half of the Swiss surveyed said that less stress and tiredness would mean more frolicking in the bedroom. They thought a bit more fun and romance would not go amiss as well.

The survey was done on-lineso that skews the participants into a distinct category: those with enoughmoneyand leisure time to surf the internet. We know that the Swiss have the resources and economic stability to have a computer in almost every home(Switzerland has the most pianos per household in the world). What's funny is how the Nigerians did on the survey. How many of them havecomputers? Who knows. I thought the few that they had were being used to spam the world in their Nigerian bank scam.

The sex survey is entertaining but does it reveal anything about the upcoming demise of Western Civilization?

I'm so glad you asked!

While the Swiss are busy with their coital diversions, the real question is : Are they reproducing? The answer is the same as for the rest of Europe.

No. Well not enough to replace their numbers in the population. What Europe is in right now is called a "Low birth-rate recession." The idea was coined by Dr. Yamada Mashiro back in the 1990's and was applied initiallytoJapan. The Japanese are very concerned about this demographic plunge in numbers because the economic impact will be severe.

The way that demographers measure population is in births per woman. If you wanted to maintain your population, say 10 million peoplein 1920,1950 and 1970; you'd have to have 2.1 babies per woman in order to maintain that steady 10 million number. 2.1 is the minimum needed to keep the status quo. That is known as the "replacement" fertility rate.

What we're seeing is that most of Europe is well below the 2.1 figure. Ireland is 1.9, Australia 1.7, Canada is 1.5, Germany and Austria are tied at 1.3, Russia and Italy are 1.2 and Spain is in the "death-throes"at 1.1 (about half of the replacement rate).

Here are the numbers :

Rank Country Birth rate(per/1,000 pop.) Date
1 Niger 50.16 2007 est.
2 Mali 49.61 2007 est.
3 Uganda 48.12 2007 est.
4 Afghanistan 46.21 2007 est.
5 Sierra Leone 45.41 2007 est.
6 Burkina Faso 45.28 2007 est.
7 Somalia 44.60 2007 est.
8 Angola 44.51 2007 est.
9 Liberia 43.75 2007 est.
10 Congo 42.96 2007 est.
11 Yemen 42.67 2007 est.
12 Chad 42.35 2007 est.
13 Congo, Republic of the 42.16 2007 est.
14 Malawi 42.09 2007 est.
15 Burundi 41.97 2007 est.

I only show the top 15 because the table contains 220 countries. What common denominator do you notice with the top 15? A little hint via Mark Steyn: It starts with I - and ends in slam. They are predominantly Muslim countries. And which countries have half of their population under 15 years of age? Saudi Arabia 39%, Pakistan 40%, and Yemen 47%. That is an important indicator of future dominance because those societies are likely to be on an upsurge. Britain was able to dominate the world at the turn of the century because their population at that time was similar to what Yemen's is now.

Go to the full chart and scroll to the bottom. You see Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden, UK, Finland, Canada, France, Australia and China. (Yes, there is very little danger of China "taking over the world" - they won't have the numbers in 100 years.)

The US is ranked at 152. Our "replacement" fertility rate is 2.11 - just alittle above the rate needed to maintain a steady population number. By 2050, Italy's population will have fallen by 22 percent, Bulgaria's by 36 percent, and Estonia's by 52 percent. 17 European countries are now what demographers call "lowest-low" fertility: 1.3 births per woman. Their populations will fall by half every 35 years, or so.

I remember as a boy in the 1970's how everyone was concerned about "over population." There were books written, studies done and theses written on the subject. Leftists decried the loss of the rain forest, the deforestation of the woodlands, pollution, dwindling gas and oil reserves and the "population explosion." There was (is) a "zero population growth" think-tank that all the Liberals glammed on to and touted. It turned out to be utter non-sense. It was just all part of the Liberal Left's "death-cult" that we're still dealing with.

As Steyn writes so eloquently in America Alone, "When my second child was born, a neighbor said 'Well, you've got two. You can stop now.'" She was being enlightened and responsible. After all, for her entire adult life, the progressive-minded have worried about 'over-population.' And this view became so pervasive that, in an age of hysteria about "dwindling resources", it became entirely normal to look on our greatest resource - us - as a liability. So today we're the endangered species, not the spotted owl. The "population explosion" is a prop of the Western progressive's bizarre death-cultism. We are so bad, so polluting, so exploitative, so violent, so destructive that we owe it to the world not to be born in the first place."

The United States has been beating itself up collectively since the 1960's and the abuse continues unabated. We're allowing ourselves to be over-run with illegal immigration while our "enlightened" Liberals focus their energies on Political Correctness, Pro-Abortion, eliminating the Family as a cohesive unit and Gay Marriage.

Steyn's book is an eye opener and his writing style is light (considering the subject matter) and easy to read. I highly recommend it.

Well so long Europe, it's been nice knowing you. I'm sure that the Muslims in France will let the Eiffel Tower stand but the War Museum at Les Invalides will be torn down because it contains medieval Christian armor. An effigy to the Crusades can't be tolerated by the new Muslim Europe.

Who could have guessed in Orwell's time that the new dominating totalitarians would come from a religious sect.

Happy Birthday WIlliam!

Last Friday was 4/20. Yes, a triumvirate of Evil: National Pothead day, the anniversary of the massacre at Columbine High School and - let us not forget that it was also Adolf Hitler's Birthday.

I'm surprised that google didn't do one of it's cheeky, homepage designs that they're wont to do on other holidays. I thought I'd see something like this from the friendly folks over at Google. Afterall, the way they capitulated to the Official Censors within the Chinese government, you'd think that they'd have a soft-spot for other tyrannical, murderous and oppressive dictators.

google_hitler

I suppose that some out there have actually considered honoring this twerp. Considering the Moral Relativism that is out there, I wouldn't be surprised if some said,"Who are we to judge? The nazis had feelings too!" In fact a survey done of US college students showed that the majority of them considered the Nazis to have intrinsic "rights" in feeling the way that they felt at the time. The moral? That moral relativism dictates that we cannot "judge" anyone - no matter how evil or immoral.

Give me a break! I love having the intelligence, freedom and wherewithal to judge. How else are we to engage in a debate over issues if we can't judge?

Anyway, not to get too far off point, today is the birthday of Mr. William Shakespeare! The English Bard is rightly honored today for his singlehanded contributions to our society and civilization.

The impact that Will has had on our language is legion. Many aphorisms that we claim today were first put on paper by Shakespeare.
To be or not to be, that is the question. ~ Hamlet
Neither a lender nor a borrower be. ~ Hamlet
Beware the Ides of March. ~ Julius Caesar
M'thinks the lady doth protest too much. ~ Hamlet.
Et tu brutus? ~ Julius Caesar
How sharper than a serpents tooth it is/To have a thankless child! ~ King Lear.
But I have, sir, a son by order of law, some year elder than this, who yet is no dearer in my account: though this knave came something saucily into the world before he was sent for, yet was his mother fair; there was good sport at his making, and the whoreson must be acknowledged. ~ King Lear.

His complete works have a total of about 24,000 words - 1,700 of which he invented.

Modern literature's most avid Shakespeare proponent was James Joyce. Joyce borrowed liberally from Shakespeare and even went so far as to write a biography of the man, somewhat, within the context and story of the novel Ulysses. Steven Daedalus suggests that Ann Hathaway, Shakespeare's wife, is an adulteress. He points out that for there to be a reconciliation, there must have first been a "sundering." Meaning that she "cuckolded" the Great Will. In the novel, Leopold Bloom is treated in the same way by his wife Molly, who's having a torrid affair with her music manager Blazes Boylan. ("If others have their Will, Ann hath a way.")

In Shakespeare's will, he bequeathed his "second-best bed" to Ann - almost saying that her adultery didn't make her worthy of their matrimonial bed.

The simple fact is that Shakespeare's writing is still fresh, lively and relevant today as it was 400 years ago. May we all enjoy such immortality.

Moving up in the ecosystem

It appears that my little blog is moving up the evolutionary chain.

rsm_linx

I went from being a "Multicellular Microorganism" to "Slimy Mollusc" in the TTLB (The Truth Laid Bare) ecosystem.

The only down side is that now I produce more carbon dioxide and, therefore, contribute to global warming. I'll have to purchase more "indulgences" from Saint Al Gore in the form of carbon credits.

US truckers set to boycott

There is going to be a national action by US Truckers to protest the President's decision to support and encourage Mexican long-haul truck drivers with unfettered and unrestricted access to US Highways.

He is using the NAFTA agreement to authorize Mexican truck drivers to cross the border and drive right onto sovereign US soil with NO background check, criminal history nor drivers license. It is outrageous that these parties would be allowed to cross our borders without proper credentials nor without a proper inspection.

From the Save America Fund website:

"You have been shamelessly betrayed and stabbed in the back! President George W. Bush, who is no friend of labor, has decided, without a single American vote being cast, that tens of thousands of Mexican trucks and truckers should be allowed into our country in order to compete against you. In less than 3 weeks, they will cross into this country with our President's blessing. They will not be subject to the same safety standards and laws regulating our trucking industry, weight and load restrictions, maintenance of their trucks and equipment, nor insurance minimums! Many will come without driver's licenses and criminal background checks will not be required of them, many will have criminal records and DUI convictions, and most do not speak, read or write English!"

A collateral result will be less US truckers employed. It's expected that the Mexican drivers will be paid almost one half of what a US trucker earns. This will push US truckers out of the picture and more and more of our roadways will be Mexican nationals operating long-haul freight.

We know that Mexicans are 3 times more likely to drive drunk and get into DUI crashes. We know that the cultural mores of Mexico contribute to this disturbing and dangerous attitude of drunk driving. Where are the safeguards to the US citizenry?

Well this protest sends a strong message that this policy should be withdrawn and cancelled immediately!

The dates of the protest are scheduled for April 23rd, 24th and 25th.

I hope that this protest works. Send an email to the White House to voice your displeasure with this new Bush "initiative".

Baldwin to daughter: "You're a little pig!"

I don't deal with celebrity trash unless it is to highlight how the Hollywood elite is rank with cowardice and traitors.

But I had to bring this item to your attention because I think it shows just how encapsulated and insulated these Hollywood actors are; not just from any political reality but from their own families.

Alec Baldwin has been an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq, the Bush administration and of American foreign policy overall.

The reason why Baldwin is in hot water is due to a voicemail message he left on his daughter's voicemail. I think it speaks volumes about what type of person this guy is. If he's willing to emotionally run rough-shod over his 12 year old daughter - what do you think his attitude would be towards anything else?

This narcissist filters everything through his own life which makes sense since, in his mind, he's the center of our solar system.

Here are some "memorable" quotes from Mr. Baldwin:

Bush wasn't elected, he was selected - selected by five judges up in Washington who voted along party lines.

Cheney is a terrorist. He terrorizes our enemies abroad and innocent citizens here at home indiscriminately.

Everything that Bush touches turns to manure in public policy.

I don't want to go all over the map here, but where is the protest against this war when almost on a daily basis, someone is dying over there?

I feel I'm two people: I have my interest in acting and I have a lot of other political interests I'd like to pursue.

I think my exact comment was that if Bush won it would be a good time to leave the United States. I'm not necessarily going to leave the United States.

I wanted to be president of the United States. I really did. The older I get, the less preposterous the idea seems.

I'm very patriotic. I'm an arch-patriot. When they play 'The Star Spangled Banner,' I get all choked up. I love my country.

"Most Republicans who are registered Republicans are decent, honest good people who you have a difference of opinion with. The leadership of the Republican Party are a bunch of sociopathic maniacs who have their lips super-glued to the ass of the conservative right."
— during an appearance on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, April 1.

Alec baldwin is the "rude, thoughtless little pig" who has made himself "feel like a fool" through his own actions; over and over and over again.

He's an embarrassment to himself, his family and to this nation. I hope the judge permamently denies him visitation rights.

Liberals digging in your pockets again

Will they ever learn?

An organization calling itself ONE.org is in the process of inundating Congress with requests to increase the International Affairs budget from 3.9 billion to 39.8 billion. The organization says it is the biggest increase in recent history.

What, pray tell, will all these extra billions do for the working Man and Woman? Oh nothing.

The initiative is pointed squarely at the "poor" - They are working to get 60 senators in the next 6 days to support $39.8 billion for the international affairs budget -- $3.9 billion over last year's international affairs budget -- the biggest increase in recent history.

From their website: "For months you've been pushing Congress to fund the fight against poverty [big government enabling ignorance[ in 2008. And now we are days away from securing $39.8 billion - $3.9 billion over last year's international affairs budget - the largest increase in recent history.
Six senators, Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chuck Hagel (R-NE), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Gordon Smith (R-OR), Christopher Dodd (D-CT), and Norm Coleman (R-MN), are taking the lead by writing a letter encouraging their colleagues in the Senate to support this critical funding. Please take a minute to ask your senator to sign on.
The international affairs budget contains almost all the funding America devotes to poverty focused development assistance - the money that so directly translates into lives saved and countries transformed [oh yea? exactly HOW?!?!]. It's not a band-aid for extreme poverty, it's smart aid that attacks it at its roots. [Yea right!]
By contributing our share to this type of funding, in partnership with other nations, we can put 77 million children in school and save 16,000 lives a day by combating AIDS, TB, and Malaria. You scored an important victory in March when you convinced the Senate to agree to put $39.8 into the budget. Now they need to translate the budget into real dollars. The Senate Appropriations Committee leadership does just that. They write the check. Write your senators urging them to allocate $39.8 billion at this critical year ago ONE members mobilized around a very similar letter and 52 Senators signed on in support. ~~ Josh Peck[er], ONE.org
"

Unreal. As if we don't have enough "programs" for the poor - now the Democrats are looking for anyway to dig deeper into our pockets. Bush just gave Africa $50 billion dollars! Isn't that enough to combat the "AIDS hoaxcrisis"?

Bush is behind this "push" with the other Senators leading point because GW is buying their support. The bill is more of a funding operation for State Department activities but some of the money will be leveraged into Iraq and Afghanistan.

Contact your Senator TODAY to let him/her know that the IAB initiative is unacceptable. Keep our money here at home and not overseas supporting, and encouraging, poverty.

Obama's tower of Babble

The Empty Suit of Hope from Illinois (aka. Barack Hussein Obama), gave a speech up in Milwaukee yesterday and perhaps didn't have the benefit of reading his speech from a teleprompter. Maybe the whole thing was ad lib or maybe somebody said something about his freakish, oversized ears right before he spoke. Who knows?

For whatever the reason he went up there and babbled like an idiot. Michelle Malkin has a link to the audio and some insightful commentary.

It's too bad BO didn't find time to comment on the skyrocketing crime rates that are occuring in the very city from which he stumped. You wouldn't expect a sitting Senator to discuss important issues like crime, illiteracy, deteriorating values and single parent households? Naaahhhh.....

For those of you from outside of Illinois, review Obama's voting record in the Senate. It is disgraceful. He's a liberal through and through. And his record shows it mightily.

Gun Control Geeks Going Nuts

Gun Control Goofs are using the shooting on the campus of Virginia Tech to flaunt their new "straw-man" in support for tougher gun control laws.

That is utter non-sense.

The Moderator over at Second City Cop blog is right on the money when he pointed out that the shooter at Virginia Tech would have had to abruptly change his tactics had one teacher or student been armed and willing to exchange gunfire with the shooter.

Just look at what happened in Utah. An off-duty officer saved countless lives by bringing his weapon to Valentines Day dinner with his wife. He was able to intercede and engage the killer long enough for back-up units to arrive. The shooter was subsequently killed by law enforcement before taking additional lives.

Let's deal with some realities: The libs like gun control because it controls YOU. It's not about guns but about the Liberals using guns to exploit a new tactic over you and your life. They deal in all kinds of ridiculous claims: "Guns cause crime", "Guns cause violence", "Someone with a gun will always look to murder someone else" ....etc. These types of "arguments" give them power over "evil" guns and over those who wield them.

They consistenly whine about "safety" but they sincerely don't care about safety - because if that was true then they'd more pro-police! And we all know that true Gun Control Geeks want all guns banned - period!

So don't engage in mental masturbation with this issue. It comes down to the fact that VT was gun-free and the killer probably was aware of that.

Just like the Beslan School hostage crisis, our schools are very susceptible to attacks.

Visit Lt. Col. Dave Grossman's website for more resources on how to prevent and deal with these types of situations.

Milwaukee - The New Ghetto?

Update: Heather McDonald at City News has more on Black Crime rates, Michelle Malkin chimes in on Race, Crime and Taboos, and let's not forget the Witchita Massacre.

"Wow," I said to myself,"I had no idea."

What triggered my thought was an article in the Chicago Tribune on the current upsurge of street violence in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Consider the following statistics for Milwaukee from 2004-2006:
Aggravated Assaults are up 86%
Robberies are up 39%
Homicides are up 17%

In big city comparisons, it isn't pretty for lil ole Milwaukee - for Detroit, Agg assaults are only up 40% with homicides up there by 7%. Only Minneapolis is closer to Milwaukee's stats: Aggravated Assaults are up 86%, Robberies are up 37% and Homicides are up 9%.

A report issued last week by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee showed the unintended consequences of cracking down on crime. Focusing on a single ZIP code in the north of the city, the study from the university's Employment and Training Institute found that two-thirds of men in their 30s who live in that neighborhood have been imprisoned. Sixty-three percent of the residents have no high school diploma or equivalent, and only 4 percent have a valid driver's license.

And here's where political correctness becomes not only disingenuous but dangerous. The media and talking heads dare not lay the blame for the skyrocketing crime rate at the feet of where it belongs. Instead they blame "economics" - joblessness and the loss of manufacturing companies.

The current makeup of Milwaukee is (according to the 2004 Census) 46.7% White, 39.5% African American, 13.3% Hispanic or Latino, and 3.6% Asian.

The 1990 Census reports that the city of Milwaukee population of 630,000, went from 23.1% Black in 1980 to 30.5% Black in 1990. It's now at almost 40%.

The sad fact is that in the 1990's the beginning influx of Blacks into Milwaukee (and Minneapolis) brought with it an increase in crime. You won't read that in the papers because the PC totalitarians on the "enlightened" Left don't have the courage to correctly identify the source of the troubles. They'd rather tap-dance around and make insinuations. As usual "economics" and "joblessness" get the brunt of the blame. The real issue with the black community is much more complex than that: it is an admixture of single-motherhood, families that are fatherless, drug use, an easy acceptance of violence and the glorification of the "gangsta life".

I've always said that the problems in the black community fall within the "80/20" rule. 80% of the crime is caused by 20% of the population. That means 80% of the black residents are good people who obey the law and do the right thing. It's the 20% that are hardcore criminals and who keep the 80% on "lock-down" with the threat of violence and retaliation.

Wisconsin and Minnesota have only themselves to blame. Back in the 1980' these two uber-Liberal states announced new initiatives to "combat poverty" - what that translates to in LibSpeak is more money to the people who don't want to work. "Free money", as they say in the ghetto.

The city has become a haven for gangsters, a transformation that the municipal authorities have passively endured. The reason for the silence stares us in the face. The gangsters themselves are largely black, and Minneapolis's
political culture is absorbed in a crusade against the reality that blacks are arrested and incarcerated in numbers that substantially exceed their proportion in the general population. ~Frontpage Magazine

How can we get this to change? Put more of the 20% (the hardcore offenders) in jail and make the sentencing sticter. That means more police on the street. That is a short-term strategy.

A long-term strategy would be to get some black leaders to publicly discuss these issues. Bill Cosby has been an outspoken critic of "black culture" and knows first hand what the real problems are: illiteracy, violence, gangsta rap culture and the lack of personal responsibility. Others who understand the issues are Juan Williams, Shelby Steele and Dr. Thomas Sowell. Race-baiters like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton should be denounced as the hateful bigots that they are.

Throwing more money at the problems only exacerbates and amplifies the problems. Whatever you subsidize, you'll get more of. If you subsidize poverty, you'll get more poverty. It is the Law of Economics.

A significant ingredient in Liberalism is ignorance, with a healthy dollop of cowardice. There is no other explanation for why we find ourselves having this discussion today and why Truth is a rare commodity in our Mainstream Media.

Immigration debate gets tough on amnesty

My faith in America just got a much-needed lift when I read this story on the current debate on immigration.

It appears that so many people have put pressure on their elected officials to get tough on illegal immigration that, surprise-surprise - they're beginning to listen!

In an ironic twist, the outlines of a potential deal have moved to the right - toward a more difficult road to citizenship for the nation's roughly 12 million illegal immigrants - even as the power in Congress has shifted to Democrats, who overwhelmingly favor a more permissive approach.

The White House has floated a proposal that would require illegal immigrants to pay fines as high as $10,000, face long waits and return to their home countries in order to be eligible for citizenship - far tougher conditions than in a bipartisan measure passed by the Senate last year and backed by Bush. The immigrants also would be denied a right to bring family members to the United States.

A bipartisan House measure introduced earlier this year would add a new mandate that undocumented immigrants go home before gaining legal status - a requirement that many Democrats and pro-immigrant groups have decried as "report to deport."

The changes reflect a new political calculus for Republicans, who fear that any plan passed by the centrist Senate will become more permissive toward immigrants in the more liberal House and during final Democratic-dominated negotiations.

It turns out that Republicans who are up for re-election, like John McCain, are worried that if they appear too soft on illegal immigration, they won't get elected.

Send an email to your two senators today:
barack obama
Dick Durbin

Tell them absolutely no considerations should be given to illegal aliens unless they move back to their country of origins and apply LEGALLY to be a US Citizen.

Clarence Thomas: "Affirmative action denigrates individuals."

Clarence Thomas in a rare interview with Business Week made some remarkable comments on Affirmative Action and The Press.

Justice Thomas knows that Affirmative Action and set-asides are disasterous policies to implement. They cast every minority in the same light and make dangerous assumptions. Affirmative action has not made a positive impact on any long-term integration policy - it simply rewards those who shouldn't be rewarded.

That's something that gets lost in this weird notion of race—that somehow you can come from New York and Savannah and Massachusetts and somehow you're still all the same. That's bizarre, and it denigrates individuals. Father Brooks understood that. He saw people who were individuals who happened to be black who had very different outlooks.

One of the reasons I don't do media interviews is, in the past, the media often has its own script. One reason these stories are never told is that they are contrary to the script that people play by. The media, unfortunately, have been universally untrustworthy because they have their own notions of what I should think or I should do.

Well said!

Garry Meier is back

Off the path of politics and on to the world of local radio for a moment:

Garry Meier is back on the air.

After a long stint off, it was good to hear him broadcasting again.

I've been following his career since the days of Disco Demolition in 1979 at Sox Park. To me, he's always embodied the "local kid who does good" story.

Garry's M.O. has always been to play second-fiddle to some partner; that seems to be where he thrives. Garry always plays the straight-guy, who's normal and quasi-conservative, to some frenetic hyper-personality.

He worked incredibly well with Steve Dahl until Dahl, Bull-in-a-China-Shop that he is, insulted Meier's new bride while Meier was away on his honeymoon. Upon Garry's return to the booth, they got into it on the air and Garry walked away.

Meier then tried a few gigs where he was running the show. He did some TV work over at WGN mornings for about a year and then got in with Roe Conn over at WLS-AM. Again, Roe Conn is a hyper-personality with all the quirks and dysfunction of Dahl. You can add "hypocondriac" to the list of Conn's ills.

But back in 2003, Conn and Meier were at an 8 year run together and were kicking ass in the afternoon drive-time ratings. They were at or near number 1 in their time slot for almost the whole time - and with good reason. Again, Meier is an incrediby talented personality but seems to do much better when he's got someone to bounce things off of.

In '03 both Conn and Meier's contracts were up for renewal. Garry's expired first and Roe's was going to expire a few months later. Apparently the two had agreed that if one walked out, they'd both walk out. That would strengthen their bargaining position and it'd be a win/win for both.

But it didn't turn out that way. When Garry's negotiations went south with management, he turned to Roe Conn and expected Conn to fulfill his promise and walk out too - Roe Conn didn't. Instead, Roe played Lucy to Garry's Charlie Brown and pulled the football away at the last minute; leaving Garry Meier with no bargaining power.

For all of Roe Conn's rhetoric on the air of "we miss Garry" and "hurry back Garry" - I was nonplussed. I knew, and thousands of disappointed listeners did too - Roe Conn had abandoned Garry, his friend and coworker. I thought that Roe was a piece of shit for doing that and I stopped listening to the "Roe Conn" show after that.

I sincerely hope Garry's new show does well. He deserves a chance and I'm sure he'll have a steady base of listeners very soon.

He always has the option of teaming up with Steve Dahl again!

Karma police closing in on Daley

One of my personal aquaintences from Mt. Greenwood is in the news.

The Suntimes reports that Michael Guilfoyle, a plumber for the City's Water Department has been living in Frankfurt, Illinois for the past 13 years - ever since he was hired by the city.

When I knew Guilfoyle he was a vicious street brawler with an affinity for liquor. He has had a hard time staying out of jail. But run-ins with the police never seemed to bother him or his older siblings. I guess it was because he constantly bragged about how he was connected to the Daley family.

I have to say that this little news item brought a warm feeling to my soul. It's like seeing the Official School Bully, years later, getting indicted on racketeering charges. You know that it is karma rolling around and evening the playing field for everyone.

From my personal interactions with this little toad, he's getting minimally what he so richly deserves. I do hope the City goes after him to recoup the wages paid to him - they should do that and more! Maybe some jail time and some stiff penalties. It's also another indication that maybe we're getting closer and closer to seeing "Da Mayor" about to get dragged through the proverbial mud.

The Trouble with islam

I watched a video clip which was sent to me a few days ago. It was pulled from a terrorist cell's website. The video showed some kidnapped Iraqi security officers (ISF) being murdered by a terrorist cell, presumably Al-quada.

The officers were flex cuffed and made to identify themselves to the cameraman, then one was decapitated. The others were shot in the head by a savage Muslim coward who wielded an AK-47 while the rest of the coward terrorists shouted "Allah u akbhar" (God is great!)

The video brought home, for me, just who we're up against. Instead of deciding to not watch the video, I wanted to see just what kind of people we're fighting in Iraq.

It comes down to one thing: what kind of person has the ability to flex cuff some innocent person and then take an 8" inch knife and saw their head off?

I can tell you - only someone who is a savage psychopath. That is who our enemy is amongst the ranks of the Islamic jihadists.

How does one get to the point in their lives where butchering, literally, someone else with a long bladed knife is acceptable?

If you were Jack the Ripper, you'd be labeled a "lust murderer". Many believe that the Ripper was indeed Walter Sickert - a one time artist, performer and actor who'd had his penis mutilitated by various surgeries as a child and decided that the whores in and around the Whitchapel section of London were to pay the price.

The Ripper was considered an anomoly - an abberation. We are 114 years after the Ripper murders tore through our western sensibilities and we're still obsessed with the case. Patricia Cornwall wrote a fantastic book on the subject "Jack the Ripper: Case closed" in which she laid out the case that Sickert was in fact Jack the Ripper.

It is easy to see how a Gary Ridgeway or Ted Bundy get into sex serial killing. They were "wired funny" and got off on murdering through their sexualized rage.

What is the Islamists' excuse? There is a vast difference between someone who murders out of lust or sociopathology and one who invokes their religious dogma to justify their killings.

Tawfik Hamid writes a great piece for OpinionJournal in which he identifies why Islam has a prediliction for violence and murder.

...there is much that is clearly wrong with the Islamic world. Women are stoned to death and undergo clitorectomies. Gays hang from the gallows under the approving eyes of the proponents of Shariah, the legal code of Islam. Sunni and Shia massacre each other daily in Iraq. Palestinian mothers teach 3-year-old boys and girls the ideal of martyrdom. One would expect the orthodox Islamic establishment to evade or dismiss these complaints, but less happily, the non-Muslim priests of enlightenment in the West have come, actively and passively, to the Islamists' defense.

It is vital to grasp that traditional and even mainstream Islamic teaching accepts and promotes violence. Shariah, for example, allows apostates to be killed, permits beating women to discipline them, seeks to subjugate non-Muslims to Islam as dhimmis and justifies declaring war to do so. It exhorts good Muslims to exterminate the Jews before the "end of days." The near deafening silence of the Muslim majority against these barbaric practices is evidence enough that there is something fundamentally wrong.

Hamid is a former member of Jemaah Islamiya, a group led by al Qaeda's second in command, Ayman al-Zawahiri. He has firsthand knowledge of just how the inhumane teaching in Islamist ideology can transform a young, benevolent mind into that of a terrorist.

Hamid also, rightly, lays some of the blame for Islam's violent outbursts at the feet of Western Liberals. How so?

Because the Western Liberals are an obstacle to Islamic reform. With their push for political correctness, the blinders are in place for public officials and media types to have a "hands off" approach to radical Islam. There is no criticism. There is no voice in the wilderness to say, "Hey - this isn't working and here's why!"

The Liberals find all sorts of excuses to heap upon the radial Jihadists: socioeconomic or political influences on poverty, colonialism, discrimination or the existence of Israel. With the Western inteligensia pulling out all critical thought in regards to Islam, what incentive is there for Islam to reform itself? As Hamid points out, "Western "progressives" pave the way for Islamist barbarity."

So the next time you see some Al zawahari type cutting the throat and slicing off the head of some poor innocent, remember to send an email to Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Charlie Rangel, Chuck Shumer, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Dick Durbin thanking them for supporting the rights and freedoms of the Jihadis. Without the support of this 5th Column, Islam would be a true "Religion of Peace."

Double Standard, Inc.

I'm no fan of the radio personality Don Imus. I find his show to be pendantic, slow and plodding.

Recently he made a comment about the Rutgers' woman's basketball team. He said that they, and I'm paraphrasing, were "nappy hoes".

So he's being suspended for 2 weeks and he had to fall on his sword yesterday on The Reverend Al Sharpton Show. Imus correctly pointed out that there is a double standard when it comes to commentary on sensitive ethnic groups.

While the comment was tactless and a gross generalization, where is the outrage from the "black leadership" when one of these gangsta rappers make a similar, or worse, absolutley denigrating song.

How about this from NWA (niggas with attitude) "Dopeman":
Nappy hair nigga yea you turned into a crook/but swear up and down, boy - dat you ain't hooked

Lloyd Banks (G-Unit) "Warrior":
I roll with the gangstas don't get fly with your mouth
The wrong punchline'll have niggaz inside of your house
Nigga I'm doing good I made it out of the hood
I own Beverly Hills no more bottles or wood

50cent "P.I.M.P.":
Man this hoe you can have her, when I'm done I ain't gon keep her
Man, bitches come and go, every nigga pimpin know
You saying it's secret, but you ain't gotta keep it on the low
Bitch choose with me, I'll have you stripping in the street
Put my other hoes down, you get your ass beat
Now Nik my bottom bitch, she always come up with my bread
The last nigga she was with put stitches in her head
Get your hoe out of pocket, I'll put a charge on a bitch
Cause I need 4 TVs and AMGs for the six
Hoe make a pimp rich, I ain't paying bitch
Catch a date, suck a dick, shiiit, TRICK

The list could go on and on. The most derogatory depictions of women, celebrating violence, ignorance, illiteracy and illegitimacy.

These special interest groups - from CAIR to Jesse Jackson - engage in a vicious double standard. They can, and do say, whatever they want and they get almost no criticism for it.

Take Jesse Jackson. He openly admitted that he spit in people's food simply because of the color of their skin. He doesn't like white people and has said so.

"Reverend" Al Sharpton had this to say back in 1991 during the Crown Heights riots when a Hasidic Jew accidently ran over and killed Gavin Cato. A rabbinical student, Yankel Rosenbaum was lynched during the incident:

The world will tell us that [Gavin Cato] was killed by accident. . . . What type of city do we have that would allow politics to rise above the blood of innocent babies? . . . Talk about how Oppenheimer in South Africa sends diamonds straight to Tel Aviv and deals with the diamond merchants right here in Crown Heights. . . . All we want to say is what Jesus said: If you offend one of these little ones, you got to pay for it. No compromise. Pay for your deeds. . . . It’s no accident that we know we should not be run over. We are the royal family on the planet. We are the original man. We gazed into the stars and wrote astrology. We had a conversation and that became philosophy. . . . We will win because we are right. God is on our side.

Or how about when Sharpton defended the black men convicted of beating and raping the Central Park jogger? At the time he said that the men were the new Scottsboro Boys and that they'd been wrongly accused and that they were trapped in a "fit of racial hysteria."

Or how about when this racist clown stood up and defended Tawana Brawley? He immediately inserted himself into the scene; as the Brawley family’s adviser. Sharpton convinced them not to cooperate with the authorities, including the state attorney general, Robert Abrams. Cooperating with Abrams, he said, would be “to sit down with Mr. Hitler.” A Sharpton sycophant, Alton Maddox, added, “Robert Abrams, you are no longer going to masturbate looking at Tawana Brawley’s picture.”

It just proves the maxim that the best defense is a good offense. Jackson, Farrakhan and Sharpton have learned a valuable lesson: When you get accused of something, immediatly accuse the accuser. As Thomas Sowell has pointed out, these people use White Guilt with impunity. They have no qualms about pulling out their RaceCard and crying "poor me - look another example of institutionalized racism". When in fact they are textbook examples of bigots and racists. They demand respect, but cannot give it. They kick and scream about their rights, but do nothing about their obligations. They take, but don't give.

After all that this troika has said and done, it amazes me that they are allowed free unfettered access to the media. The MSM lines up to interview these clowns and then acts as if they are a valid source of information.

Here is a great piece that ticks off Sharpton's pathetic career and bafoonery. Michell Malkin fires off with When race-baiting blowhards collide.

There is a great chasm in our society. Freedom of speech is now off-limits if you're not a minority.

Hispanic drunk driving out of control

From the "No shit!" files comes a story in the Charlotte Observer that is not a shock to any law enforcement ... Hispanics, as a group, are involved in more DUI crashes than any other ethnic group:

Statistics from the UNC Highway Safety Research Center show that in 2005 there were 37 alcohol-related crashes caused by Hispanics for every 10,000 Hispanics in North Carolina. That is more than three times the number for other groups.

Statistics show that DWI charges for Hispanics have increased since 2000, although at a slower rate than the growth of Hispanic immigrants. Last year, Hispanics accounted for 18 percent of the state's 75,000 DWI arrests but were 6 percent of the population.

Full story here.

Illegal aliens arrested for DUI in Mecklenburg County, NC have tripled in the last seven years.

Of course, and right on cue, Hispanic leaders say that it is a "cultural" more that contributes to the problem. One person even claimed that many illegals leave their families behind and that makes them "lonely" - thus they reach for the bottle and drive.

I sit in Felony Traffic court and almost the entire grandstand of offeders is Hispanic. They need translators so they get to go up to the stand first and of course they have no license - and rarely have insurance.

And if you're living in Chicago, you're probably paying quite a bit annually for car insurance. You're paying through the nose because Pepe isn't paying anything. Meanwhile he's the one more likely to be a drunk driver on the roads.

Lately there have been an unending string of story after story of illegal aliens who murder innocent victims while driving intoxicated.

Bob Clark, director of A Christmas Story was killed by a drunk illegal alien driver. His son was also killed. According to Rep. Steven Kind (R-IA), 12 Americans every day are killed by an illegal alien. (click on link for full story).

Officer Rodney Johnson was murdered by an a previously deported illegal alien. It just isn't slowing up nor stopping and it's just going to get worse when Bush succeeds in giving these people his new version of Amnesty.

I just started reading Mark Steyn's new book America Alone.

Bush's foibles

Rich Lowry wrote a great piece in the April 2 issue of National Review entitled "A question of competence."

Bush has made mistakes but has exacerbated the public's reaction by not following some basic rules.

Lowry points out that Bush was hurt by two major events that would have sidelined almost any national leader: Katrina and Iraq.

You'd have to have a crystal ball to forecast a hurricane that devastated an area larger than Great Britain. Iraq just needed some more arial bombing and some more "boots on the ground" alittle earlier. The State department and Pentagon didn't have a unified plan of action for the post-combat phase of the war.

Lowry names Bush's problem as the "Good Man" syndrome.

Bush has a tendency to rely on one or two meetings with someone to label them as being "a good man." The best example of this is when Bush met with Russian premier Putin. After a couple meetings with the Lord of the Evil Empire, Bush declared that he'd gotten a "sense of [Putin's] soul" - and ignoring common sense and history - decided that Putin was "straightforward and trustworthy."

Bush made the same remark about General George Casey, then Casey had to go because of incompetence.

GWBush has overvalued loyalty - almost to the point of being clannish. This tactic which shuts out criticism and puts incompetent people in positions that they should never be. Harriet Myers is the most egregious example of that. In fact, Bush stated publicly that Myers was "a good woman."

How about after Katrina when Bush said,"Brownie: You're doing a hell of a job!"

Lowry hits it on the head when he wrote this paragraph:
Bush's view of presidential leadership makes it even harder for him to admit mistakes and act o them. He considers it a major role of a president - just as he did as a team owner - to project confidence and optimism. And he's right. But Bush takes it too far. Take a president who doesn't like to be discouraged, who values secrecy and hates leaks, and there is bound to be a problem with the flow of information.

My biggest complaint about this White House over the last 4 years is it's tendency to "go dark." Bush just doesn't do a good job explaining his "strategery" nor keeping us informed on what's going on with - well, almost everything!

The only thing I know he's excited about and talkes about relentlessly is his support for Illegal Immigration (No Illegal Left Behind program)

So I wasn't shocked that the GOP got socked in the kisser in the last elections. What did the White House expect? 80% of the job of being president is communication. When you have someone who can barely pronounce words properly, let alone share his vision of America in which, anyone with a 6th grade education can see we're giving our country away to Illegal Mexican immigrants, it's no wonder that the voters don't support him.

The next president will have to be better able to communicate, will have to be a detail-oriented and will have to have some major skills in running a government.

Au revoir, Mister Boosh!

Happy Easter

Easter's always been one of those holiday where church attendance was mandatory. God help me but I haven't been to church in over a year. I don't like going to church because I find little coming from the pulpit that is relevant nor interesting.

I realized that you don't have to go to church to celebrate what Easter is all about.

As Joseph Campbell wrote so eloquently, "Myths are public dreams, dreams are our personal myths. There are energies in the Universe that ebb and flow and those same energies operate within you. That is the foundation of mythology, religions and God."

People get so caught up in their own tiny lives and minutae that we forget that mankind has been present on the earth for almost 300,000 years. The last 10,000 have seen a skyrocketing journey of discovery and innovation. But for 250,000 of those years our neanderthal brethren did little else except hunt, sleep, mate and fight. They did have rituals and, as cave paintings in lascaux show - a spirituality that was rooted in dreams and magic.

This time of year calls upon each of us to reconnect with our deepest selves.

The word religion means "linking back." There is much more to life that our own limited perspectives and experiences.

Easter beckons us on a journey of the mystical.

"to-from" follies
